Arbor or pergola ?
Arbor or Pergola, your choice…
When the good weather arrives and the sun makes its appearance, both offer you the possibility to protect yourself from too high temperatures. Aluminum, wood … there is something for all tastes and preferences.
What characterizes the arbor and the pergola ?
Arbor, portable according to your preferences
The arbor is generally smaller than a pergola, but is based on the same principles, with an open roof. It can be made of cast iron, PVC, weaved resin, wood … often has a square or circular shape. The arbor is not considered a durable construction that we keep for many years. It is easily transportable and can be arranged anywhere in the garden, according to your preferences or your shade needs, attached to a wall of your terrace or in the middle of your garden, to protect your garden lounge or receive guests.
Pergola, a permanent and customizable installation !
The pergola, unlike the arbor, has a fixed structure that cannot be disassembled depending on your preferences. Usually, one side of the pergola is attached to the house, in the extension of a wall and the other side is supported by feet that are fixed to the ground for safety. In fact, since the structure is heavy, and possible violent winds, it is necessary that it is fixed correctly.
Made to measure to fit your home, the pergola can also be self-transported and placed according to your tastes (near a pool for example …) if the materials or the soil allow it. They are becoming more sophisticated as in the case of the bioclimatic pergola or the motorised roof pergola. These allow you to orient the slats on the roof and thus benefit from optimal ventilation!
You have already understood, the pergola and the arbor are distinguished by their own characteristics.
The choice is yours!
